HISTORY

IInterconsultants Executive Search was founded by Jetse Reijenga in 1984 as a spin-off from a renowned Swiss agency, which has been active in the Benelux since the seventies. Since then Jetse has continued to build a solid firm and network in a variety of industries.

In recent decades, the company has completed hundreds of assignments, for both large, well-known international companies as well as the smaller SME’s looking to grow their businesses with highly qualified individuals.

In 2017, Milo Zegerius and Norbert Meijer, Partners at Interconsultants Executive Search, together with Rod McDermott, CEO of McDermott & Bull, acquired Interconsultants Executive Search and formed McDermott & Bull Europe.

McDermott & Bull Europe gives the McDermott & Bull access to international insights and expertise and makes McDermott & Bull a true global player.

METHODOLOGY

With over 25 years of experience, we possess of the methods and techniques to source the right candidate, who match the agreed criteria and competencies necessary to perform the role by using Direct Search.

Our recruitment process is as follows:

Briefing Our strategy includes thorough preparation in order to familiarise ourselves with the client and the various departments within the organisation, their management style as well as their company culture. We therefore, conduct multiple conversations at various levels within the organisation of the client.

Analysis of the corporate culture, preparation of job specifications and candidate profiles We analyse the different positions in the organisation with the associated objectives, challenges and identify any foreseeable problems. We also analyse the current and future desired culture within the organisation and/or department. We pay special attention to ongoing changes. These are very important aspects for the growth and future prospects of both the organisation as well as the candidate. We create the job specification and the candidate profiles. Once the client has approved these specifications, we:

Develop a marketing concept We develop an innovative strategy on how to attract potential candidates and get them excited about working for your company. We identify the client’s Unique Selling Points and determine how we can utilize and positively communicate these selling points to the candidate. If need be, we will also develop a media plan.

Create a search strategy We identify the target areas to source and target the most qualified candidates and we also analyse the direct competitors and parallel industries. We locate candidates with extensive experience in the industry. We narrow the geographical search area down. We select the search method, source selection, and networking and communication techniques. Then we put our research team together.

Develop an interviewing strategy We develop an interviewing strategy for selecting and qualifying candidates where we establish their professional and personal characteristics.

Research An intensive marketing strategy for approaching candidates through research based on our comprehensive database, resources, extensive networks coupled with our in-depth industry experience.

Create Master List of Candidates We create a master list of potential candidates for internal use.

Interviews with McDermott & Bull Europe During the interview session, we analyse, qualify and assess the potential candidate’s background, education, characteristics, qualities and achievements. We perform reference checks and prepare a Candidate Profile for the qualified and selected candidates to present to the client.

Compose a shortlist of candidates We present the client with a shortlist of qualified candidates. In addition to this, each candidate profile will be accompanied by a confidential Personal History document consisting of an overview of their personal information, training, work experience, motivation and a brief explanation of their personal traits and characteristics. From experience we have learned that we have to present two to five shortlisted candidates. We discuss each individual personally; on this basis the client can choose which candidates they would like to meet.

Candidate presentations and interviews We arrange the interviews between the client and the candidates. One of our partners is always present at the initial interview to provide an introduction and a “climate setting”. Each interview is subsequently evaluated. This is often followed by a second interview with other stakeholders, if required; one of our consultants will be present during this interview.

Assess the candidates Based on the findings of the client with respect to the candidates, which have been presented, the final candidate is selected.

Sign the contract If so required, we can negotiate the contract with the candidate on behalf of the client.

Commence employment Evaluation during employment We track the development of the candidate within the organisation. Approximately three months after commencement, this will be followed by an evaluation of the selection process with the client and McDermott & Bull Europe.

Guarantee If the employment contract is terminated by the client within six months after the candidate’s commencement, or if the candidate decides to terminate the employment contract within six months, McDermott & Bull Europe shall start the recruit process again.

CANDIDATES

Candidates can expect the utmost discretion with respect to any personal information that they have entrusted McDermott & Bull Europe with. We will never use the personal information of the candidates without their express consent. In addition, we keep the candidates fully informed of the recruitment process during the assignment. This unfortunately, is one aspect that is often neglected by many other recruiters, which in turn creates unnecessary confusion or false expectations.



At McDermott & Bull Europe the candidates are subjected to a rigorous review of their motivations for a possible change. In the addition, we do not only assess the candidates on substantive work performance but through specific interview techniques, we also establish whether the candidate will fit into the client’s culture. If so required and desired, McDermott & Bull Europe shall provide candidates with the necessary coaching on interviews with employers, their curriculum vitae and other related matters. After placement, we often remain in contact with our candidates for years to come.
